Openbite Santa Monica

The openbite is a malocclusion in which a noticeable gap is formed between the upper and lower teeth even when the jaw is completely closed. This is usually due to an uneven growth of the teeth and jaw in combination with poor habits. The most common avoidable causes of the openbite include thrusting the tongue against the teeth or sucking your fingers, both of which provide extreme and frequent pressure to the teeth.

Untreated cases of the openbite can result in tooth decay, jaw deformities, and problems chewing. It is also possible that speech problems may develop due to an openbite, as well as issues playing certain instruments. It is recommended that one has an openbite treated as soon and possible and work to correct any bad habits that may cause teeth irregularities.
